Why file a complaint?
Weighing and measuring devices—such as scales, gas pumps, and retail scanners—are mechanical and can become inaccurate due to wear and tear or malfunctions.

Inaccuracies include the following examples:

-
Gas pumps dispensing less fuel than paid for
-
Scanners charging more than the shelf price
-
Packages not containing the stated quantity
What happens if a device fails inspection?
If a device is found to be inaccurate, the Lucas County Auditor's inspectors may do one or more of the following:
1
Reject, condemn, or confiscate the device
2
Order items off sale if a scanner error exceeds 2.00%
3
Require repackaging or confiscation of underfilled products
