
Meet Katie Moline
Katie Moline is a licensed Certified Public Accountant who was appointed to serve as Lucas County Auditor on January 31, 2024 and was elected to serve the remainder of the term on November 5, 2024. Katie previously served as City of Toledo at-large Councilwoman from January 2, 2020 – January 30, 2024 where she chaired the Finance, Budget and Debt Oversight Committee.
Biography
Education and Experience

Katie attended Miami University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in both Political Science and History. She earned a Master’s Degree in Russian Studies from European University at St. Petersburg. Upon graduation, Katie moved home to Toledo to work for U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.
After serving as Congressional Aide to U.S. Congresswoman Kaptur for five years in her district office, Katie reinvented her career and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Katie worked in the private sector as Senior Audit and Assurance Accountant at Weber Clark. Katie was selected to the 2019 Class of Leadership Advance of the Ohio Society of CPAs, was a Woman in Leadership mentor at BGSU, and served as the chair of EPIC Toledo – the largest young professional organization in Northwest Ohio. In 2019, Katie was honored with the prestigious 20 under 40 award that recognizes 20 individuals under the age of 40 who distinguish themselves in their community and career from over 200 nominees from northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. In 2020, Katie was selected as one of thirty Certified Public Accountants in the United States to join the prestigious American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) Leadership Academy. In 2021, Katie started her own business, Katie Moline Consulting, to continue her CPA work and career. She serves on the Foundation Board for the Ohio Society of CPAs and focuses on workforce development for the CPA profession.
Public Service

In 2020, Katie was appointed to finish a term on Toledo City Council. Later that year, she won her election to retain that seat and won her re-election in 2021 for a full 4-year term.

While serving on Toledo City Council, Katie always advocated for accountability, transparency and fiscal responsibility. Katie proudly authored legislation to form the Veteran-Friendly Business Enterprise program. She also created "SMART Analysis" for the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds; analysis included in all requests for these expenditures. She wrote the Toledo Municipal Code Section for the duties and responsibilities of the City Auditor. She also wrote the Toledo Municipal Code Section regulating short-term rental properties in the city. In 2023, Katie initiated sponsoring legislation for the Toledo Film Commission to be formally recognized by the State of Ohio Film Commission.
In her work as Lucas County Auditor, conducted the 2024 Revaluation, during which her office processed nearly 7,000 formal property value challenges and returned nearly $3.8 million to Lucas County citizens. In 2025, she commissioned the Cleminshaw Report, an independent audit of the revaluation process, which classified it as “adequate” and recommended areas of improvement to create a “best in class” rating for future revaluations. The Auditor’s office also received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This prestigious award highlights the transparency and accuracy of the presentation of Lucas County’s financial reporting. In November 2025, Katie hosted the Helping with Homestead events at area senior citizens to guide seniors through the Homestead Exemption process.

Katie serves in various leadership positions in her role as Auditor. She is on the Executive Board of County Auditor’s Association of Ohio (CAAO) and currently chairs the Public Relations/Support Services Committee. She also serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the CAAO Northwest Ohio District.

Katie serves and is active in her church, Blessed Sacrament Parish and enjoys being involved with her high school alma matter, Central Catholic.
