What does the Auditor's Weights and Measures Department do?

They protect both consumers and sellers from inaccurate charges based on scaling issues.

As the Sealer of Weights and Measures for Lucas County, the Auditor’s Office is responsible for ensuring that all commercial weighing and measuring devices are accurate and compliant with Ohio state law.

The Weights and Measures program protects consumers and businesses from overcharges, ensures machinery is measuring accurately, and promotes fairness and transparency in the marketplace.

This program safeguards both buyers and sellers, ensuring equity in every transaction.

If you believe that a weighing or measuring device you have used is inaccurate, please file a complaint so we can inspect the device.
