Rental Property Registration

Do I need to register my property?

All residential rental properties must be registered with the Lucas County Auditor, per Ohio Revised Code Section 5323.

If you own property with a livable structure, that is not your primary residence, you must file either a Rental Registration application or an Exception to the Rental Registration.

Failure to register your rental property as either a rental or as an exception may result in fines.

Is my property registered already?

To check if your property is already registered as a rental, you can search for your address on our AREIS Online website.

After you search for your property, the second-to-last tab on the left of the page is labelled "Rental Registration." Clicking on this will allow you to see if your property is registered as a rental.

If the information on this page is incorrect or needs to be updated, you may need to file a new application. Please call 419-213-4406 or email rentalregistration@co.lucas.oh.us if you have questions.
