Junk Yard License

Junk yards are defined by Ohio law in Section 4737.05 of the Ohio Revised Code

Anyone wishing to own and maintain a junk yard in Lucas County must apply in writing to the Auditor's Office with the following information:

  • Name and address of the applicant

  • Location of the junk yard

  • If the applicant is a firm, partnership, or association, the name and address of each member

  • If the applicant is a corporation, the date and place of incorporation, and the names and addresses of its officers and directors

Each business must be inspected annually by the Lucas County Sheriff in order to qualify for a junk yard license.

How to Apply

Owners may apply by bringing in person or mailing the application to the following address:

Include the completed application and payment. The initial fee is $25.00, and the annual renewal fee is $10.00. Checks should be made payable to Lucas County Auditor.

Licenses expire on the first day of January following the date of issuance.
