Unclaimed Funds

The Lucas County Auditor maintains a list of unclaimed funds—payments that were not redeemed by the payee at the time of issuance. These funds can be claimed through a formal process.

This website only shows Lucas County Unclaimed Funds. The State of Ohio's Unclaimed Funds information can be found on their website.

How to Claim Unclaimed Funds

Identify Unclaimed Funds under your name

View the Lucas County Unclaimed Funds list to identify any unclaimed funds that may belong to you.

Complete the Unclaimed Funds Claim Form

Download the claim form and fill it out. This form must be signed in front of a notary.

Proof of claim must also be included with your submission.

Submit your Unclaimed Funds Claim Form

The completed form can be mailed or delivered to the Auditor's Office. Only original documents can be submitted - photocopies, faxes, and PDFs are not accepted.

Proof of Claim Requirements

1. Notarization

 

Each unclaimed payment requires a separate notarized form.

2. Proof of Claim

Include the following documents with your form:

​

For Individuals:

​

  • Photocopy of your Social Security card

  • Photocopy of your Driver’s License or State ID

  • Original check(s), if available

​

For Corporations:

​

  • Copy of the front page of the tax return or document with Federal ID Number

  • Proof of authority* for the person signing the form (e.g., corporate resolution, affidavit from a senior officer)

  • Verification of position* (e.g., board minutes, SEC filings, annual reports)​

 

*Business cards or letterhead are not acceptable as proof.

A professional finder is not necessary for claiming Unclaimed Funds in Lucas County.

Professional finders must present a valid contract with the claim. Checks can be issued in the name of the payee and sent to the finder, if requested.
